“These grants are more than just dollars, they’re lifelines for students who have the talent but not always the tools,” said Johnson. “I’m proud to see our local colleges and universities awarded this critical funding, and I will continue fighting to ensure North Texas students have every opportunity to thrive.”
“By enhancing academic support and student services, this grant strengthens our institution’s ability to break down barriers and uplift students, creating long-term impact not just for individuals, but for families and communities across our region,” said Dr. Iris Freemon, Vice Chancellor of Advancement and Innovation, Dallas College.
This critical grant funding will support higher education institutions in delivering academic advising, tutoring, career services, and financial literacy training to students who need it most. The TRIO SSS program is a cornerstone of federal support for student success, helping more than 200,000 students each year nationwide.
Congresswoman Julie Johnson represents Texas’s 32nd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving on the Homeland Security Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Administration Committee.
