2026 Congressional Art Competition

Each spring, a nationwide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our Congressional District.

The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students in Texas' 32nd Congressional District. The winning artwork of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will include the winning artwork from all participating districts from around the country. The winning artwork is also featured on House.gov's Congressional Art Competition page.

All artwork must be submitted by April 27th. Art must be a minimum of 1 MB in size in JPEG or PNG format. Artwork may also be submitted directly to Congresswoman Johnson's district office by mail or drop-off. The district office is located at 100 N Central Expy, Suite 602, Richardson, TX, 75080.

Pick-ups may also be arranged ahead of time for the week of April 20th for schools that may be located further away from our office. To schedule a pickup, please contact Congresswoman Johnson's district office at (972) 972-7949.

All students must fill out and submit with their artwork the student release form. Please include a short description or story behind your piece and measurements of the artwork in inches (length x width). Our district office will select the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, along with honorable mentions. Winners will have the opportunity to have their artwork showcased in our district office for all visitors to see. The 1st place winner will receive 2 tickets and a tour of the U.S. Capitol to see their work displayed.

The following is a summary of the Congressional Art Competition rules:

Artwork must be two-dimensional. Each framed artwork can be no larger than 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep. If your artwork is selected as the winning piece, it must arrive in Washington, DC, framed. Even when framed, it must still measure no larger than the above maximum dimensions. No framed piece should weigh more than 15 pounds.
