Congresswoman brings together major health systems to tackle workforce shortages, rising costs, and coverage gaps

DALLAS, TX  — On Monday, November 10th, Congresswoman Julie Johnson (TX-32) hosted a healthcare roundtable at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, bringing together more than two dozen hospital executives, medical associations, and community health leaders to discuss the urgent issues shaping care in North Texas.

Attendees included representatives from Texas Health Resources, the Texas Hospital Association, the DFW Hospital Council, the Texas Medical Association, Parkland Health, Children’s Health, and several community-based organizations and clinics who shared their perspectives on the challenges ahead
The discussion focused on the looming expiration of enhanced ACA premium tax credits, Medicaid cuts, new restrictions on Marketplace enrollment, and workforce retention across the healthcare sector. Participants also raised concerns about Medicare Advantage reforms, rural hospital closures, and the reduction in navigator funding that helps families stay insured.
“The cost of care shouldn’t decide who lives and who dies,” said Congresswoman Julie Johnson. “When premiums double and hospitals close, it’s working families and seniors who pay the price. Texas is home to world-class healthcare talent — but it’s time Washington gave them the tools to match their commitment to care,” Johnson continued
"We appreciate Congresswoman Julie Johnson meeting with area leaders and providers today at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas to discuss pressing healthcare public policy challenges and concerns. Her steadfast leadership and support for protecting patients, enacting thoughtful insurance reforms, and expanding health coverage and access to care are needed more than ever on Capitol Hill.," said Joel Ballew, Vice President, Government Affairs & Advocacy, Texas Health Resources.
Congresswoman Johnson, who leads the New Democrat Coalition’s Health Care Access and Affordability Task Force, said the insights shared today will directly shape her legislative priorities in Washington. Johnson emphasized that healthcare reform must be grounded in the real-world experience of those serving patients and communities—and that protecting affordability is essential to keeping Texas families healthy and hospitals open.
Congresswoman Julie Johnson represents Texas’ 32nd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving on the Homeland Security Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Administration Committee. Her district includes parts of Collin, Dallas, and Denton Counties.
