Johnson Statement on Donald Trump’s Joint Address to Congress
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Julie Johnson (TX-32) released the following statement in response to Donald Trump’s Joint Address to Congress.
“Tonight, Donald Trump stood before the American people and lied—again. He painted a picture of a country that doesn’t exist while ignoring the reality Texans are living every single day,” said Johnson.
“Costs are skyrocketing, and what has he done? Nothing. Even as healthcare and prescription drug prices hit record highs, his policies relentlessly attack Medicaid—stripping over 100,000 of my neighbors of critical care. His reckless tariffs will drive up prices on the basics Texans rely on, including groceries, hitting small businesses and working families the hardest. And instead of fixing this mess he’s made, Trump is focused on purging public servants—the very people who keep our government running and our communities safe. The only thing this does is increase our debt and deficits as he lines the pockets of Elon Musk.”
“Texans are fed up. They’re sick of working harder just to fall further behind. Trump hasn’t done anything to help my neighbors—he’s made life unbearable for working families and I’m furious about it. It is critical that we hold Trump accountable, challenge his lies, and fight for the people we represent. Texans need real solutions, not more empty promises. I came to Congress to fight for them, and that’s exactly what I’m doing—standing up for affordable health care, good-paying jobs, and a government that works for the people.”
Congresswoman Julie Johnson represents Texas’ 32nd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving on the Homeland Security Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Administration Committee. Her district includes parts of Collin, Dallas, and Denton Counties.
