Johnson Votes to Release the Epstein Files
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congresswoman Julie Johnson (TX-32) released a statement following her vote in support of releasing the Epstein Files.
“Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse was an open secret for decades — yet year after year, he was allowed to continue trafficking, exploiting, and destroying the lives of children and young women,” said Johnson. “Donald Trump promised to release the files. He promised transparency. Instead, he and his handpicked lieutenants buried the truth beneath a mountain of lies and contradictions. That’s why today I proudly voted to release the Epstein Files. This is not about partisanship — it’s about whether the United States Congress will stand with survivors and hold powerful men accountable for sex trafficking. The American people, and the brave survivors who have waited far too long, deserve the truth. I urge the Senate to take up this matter quickly and deliver justice.”
In September, Johnson delivered a floor speech calling on Congress to release the files. Johnson was also one of the 218 signatures to sign a discharge petition in the House to force the chamber to vote on whether to release the files.
The House voted 427 to 1 in favor of releasing the Epstein Files. The bill now goes before the Senate for a vote.
Congresswoman Julie Johnson represents Texas’s 32nd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving on the Homeland Security Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Administration Committee. Her district includes parts of Collin, Dallas, and Denton Counties.
