Johnson Tours Dallas College, Highlights $1.5 Million in Federal Funding for Airframe and Powerplant Program

March 24, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC — On Monday, March 23, 2026, Congresswoman Julie Johnson (TX-32) toured Dallas College, highlighting $1.5 million in federal funds that she secured from Congress for the College’s Airframe and Powerplant Program. This funding will enable Dallas College to train a new wave of Aviation Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) to meet industry demand. The funding will help Dallas College make renovations and retrofitting of the instructional hangar.

“To prepare students for the future, we have a responsibility to connect industry needs with workforce talent and create real, immediate job opportunities for those ready to get ahead. Dallas College’s Airframe and Powerplant Program is a prime example of how vital this work is to both our regional economy and the safety of our air travel by building a strong pipeline of skilled talent,” said Johnson. “As a Member of Congress, I’m committed to bringing taxpayer dollars back home to support our North Texas community, and I’m proud we were able to deliver this critical funding to Dallas College. This investment will help educate local students and put them on a path to strong careers and lasting success. I’m grateful to Dallas College for its partnership in making this possible.”

“This federal investment helps Dallas College expand a critical workforce pipeline for the aviation industry,” said Dallas College Chancellor Justin H. Lonon. “By retrofitting the instructional hangar and its equipment at the Dallas Executive Airport to meet aviation industry standards, we can expand hands-on training opportunities that allow students to earn certifications and enter the workforce. We appreciate Congresswoman Johnson’s leadership in supporting programs that connect North Texas students to high-demand, high-wage careers while strengthening the region’s aviation workforce.”

The Community Project Funding process, through which this funding was secured, allows each Member of Congress to request funds for critical local initiatives in their communities. In total, Johnson secured more than $15 million in federal funding for 15 local North Texas projects

Congresswoman Julie Johnson represents Texas’s 32nd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving on the Homeland Security Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Administration Committee. Her district includes parts of Collin, Dallas, and Denton Counties.
